The 5th Mountain – September 3

 In WOD

On Saturday, September 3, CrossFit Beaumont will be hosting a free WOD. The workout will be “The 5th Mountain”, a workout posted by SEALFIT that will challenge you physically and mentally – elevating you to a new level. It will take you to the edges of your comfort zone and help you show yourself just how far you can go. We will start at high noon on Saturday (right after the free class).

“The 5th Mountain”

For Time With a 20# Vest

100 Burpees, Run 1 Mile

100 Squats, Run 1 Mile

100 Sit-Ups, Run 1 Mile

100 Push-Ups, Run 1 Mile

100 Pull-Ups, Run 1 Mile

CFB has four 20# vests and one 10# vest, CFMC has a couple, and we may have one or two more people have at their house. If you have a weight vest (or armor police officers) you can bring that. Just like every workout this will be scalable. You don’t have to use a vest, you can scale the reps, and the distance – But you will challenge yourself. Also, if you can contribute to the Navy Seal War Foundation, go to nswfoundation.org or you can text SEAL to 90999 for a quick $10 donation.

Please RSVP in the comments section so we can get an idea of how many to expect.

I’m trying to figure out how to scale it to the “5th Hill.” It does look like fun…in a sick sort of way.

Done RX or, even without a vest, this WOD is a close equivalent to a marathon, maybe even harder.

I have a feeling the Box will me pretty empty the next week after this thing. Lol

I think 1:10 and under is very possible on this workout after doing it this morning. We were shooting to finish and not so much a certain time. I plan on trying again in a couple of weeks to see.

Jeremy you are not human. 1:30 is plenty fast enough. Shooting for a 1:10 in the 100 degree SE Texas heat is nuts.

  • JeremyWF

Jason, it would never happen in the 100 degree heat. If I was doing it in 100 degree heat I would just aim to stay hydrated and finish. If it was done in the fall or winter I think it would be possible.

I’m going sans vest. The good news is that the weather is supposed to be in the 80s and possibly with some rain. I am going to enjoy doing the runs in the rain.

I just finished this “warrior wod” and my time was 1:29:59. I was shooting for a sub sixty mins but after the burpees and first mile consuming twenty mins I saw this wasn’t possible. The vest added at least thirty mins to my time with all of my mile runs being around nine to ten mins which was depressing. My vest bounced a lot and this was very annoying and I almost took it off after the first lap, but I’m glad I left it on. I made up good time on the next three exercises, but the pull ups ate my lunch. I guess I was so fatigued I forgot to kip! Weather was nice, just wish I would have had some people to do it with so I would’ve pushed a little harder. Good luck!

1:42:42. Started with the vest on the burpees, 1st mile, and air squats. Took it off for the next mile then back on for the sit ups and off again for the run. Then back on for the push ups and off for good after that.

1:54:44…No vest, but I did everything else RX. The Burpees sucked, but I’m glad they were out of the way at the start. I started slow on the Squats, but gamed by doing them ten at a time and then shaking the legs out. Once my legs warmed out I was pumping out ten pretty fast. Sit-Ups, no problem. I did better on Push-Ups than I expected. And the Pull-Ups were tough as hell, especially after the first 50. I’m pretty happy I did this WOD and even happier that I completed it.
