My name is Courtney Talmadge; I am 30 years old and am the Office Manager at LTS Wireless in Lumberton. I’m currently a student at Lamarphoto-1-1 University in Beaumont, studying to be a Registered Dietician. The older I’ve gotten, it’s been more apparent to me how important your health really is; whether that be nutritional health, skin care, and/or physical health. I decided to join CrossFit Lumberton in March 2016. My friends/co-workers were actively going and suggested I give it a try. I went in for my on-ramp and haven’t looked back since. The more I became familiar with the sport of CrossFit, the more my mind was intrigued by the dynamics of it. Shortly after starting CrossFit, I decided to become more in touch with my nutrition; it’s hard to out train a good diet, right? A friend referred me to Connor McDonald, who I like to call my Nutrition Coach. Connor is an instructor at NorBeau CrossFit as well as a CrossFit Regionals Qualifier. Upon his knowledge and expertise, he has really pushed me to achieve my goals. To be quite honest, I never really knew how addicting something could be, until I joined CrossFit. I eat, sleep, and breathe this sport. CrossFit has not only taught me more about myself as a person, but it’s also given me life-long friends/family that I never dreamt I would have had. The coaches at CFL have hearts of gold, and their passion for the sport and for each member is truly inspiring. I look up to each and every one of them. Between the blood, sweat, and tears I’ve endured at CFL, I’ve gained so much passion for the sport and am so glad I took the steps to join. I’ve gained muscles I didn’t know I existed, friends I could never replace, a second home and family, and hopefully a longer lifespan. Not only have I become physically stronger, but mentally too. In the past 20 months, I’ve lost over 5% body fat and have never felt happier or healthier!
