My name is Jessica Adams I am 26 years old and I grew up in Silsbee Texas. I was always active throughout high school with drill team and marching band so gaining weight was never really an issue for me. It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my sweet little boy Greyson that the weight began to pack on. I gained a whopping 64 pounds during my pregnancy.

I started my pregnancy in the 130s and ended around 190s. After giving birth to my baby boy it didn’t take long for me to drop the first 30 pounds which left me weighing around 165ish pounds. I still had a long ways to go with losing weight. My fitness journey started with high cardio workouts with lighter weights and lots of running. I lost most of the weight in a year but I still was not happy with where I was at physically. I discovered pretty early postpartum that I had a very extensive ab separation that was making my stomach look extended and pregnant because my core was so weak. This left me looking “skinny fat” after losing most of the baby weight. It was something I could hide under clothes but I was very unhappy. I was tired of doing lots of cardio and I really wanted something more.

My best friend Melissa Thompson was already going to CrossFit lumberton for many years and she always talked about her love for it and how you get what you pay for but I was always skeptical and thought it was just expensive and unnecessary. January 2018 rolled around and she invited me to the 2 free weeks and I finally decided to give it a shot. I came every single day for those 2 weeks and I fell in love! I’ve gone 5 days a week for an entire year and 9 months and i am absolutely addicted! CrossFit has truly given me the aesthetic results I was looking for and it has tremendously helped in strengthening my core. My ab separation has healed a great amount with lifting weights and using my core properly. I went from never lifting a barbell in my life to now being able to slowly rx workouts and hitting prs! Through CrossFit I have been able to achieve: strength, stamina, muscle gain, and most importantly confidence! I’m excited to see where I will be in 2 more years! I would absolutely recommend CrossFit to anyone and everyone it’s more than physical it’s truly therapeutic!
