A little about me: My name is Meghann Montebello – I am 34 years old, have been married for 8 years to my awesome husband, Mark, and we have a 2 ½-year-old daughter, Mia, who is the light of my life. I have always been active from a very young age. I started running at age 6 and participated in track and cross country throughout my years in school. Running was all I knew, but after many years of the same old thing, I found myself wanting something more – I wanted to try a sport that was different, challenging, and fun.
Crossfit had always seemed untouchable and way too hard for “normal” people to do. I called Sean Hardy and he assured me that all levels could participate in this sport and the majority of movements could be modified. After attending a free Saturday class at the end of 2014, I was hooked. I could barely move the next day, but that didn’t scare me. In fact, that intrigued me! I would attend class once or twice a week for several years, but after I had my daughter in March 2017, I got my butt into gear and started attending class 4 to 5 times a week at 5 am. I hardly ever RX a workout and can’t get close to what some folks can lift, but I push myself every day and have been making steady PR’s over the past few months. I recently participated in my first Crossfit competition, Summer Throwdown, with my friend Todd Ellison and although it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, I absolutely loved it and was thrilled to have completed it.
I look forward to the challenge Crossfit poses each and every day and how it forces you to dig deep and just keep moving. I sometimes find myself saying, “This is going to suck” before a workout, but it’s the best kind of suck and the high I feel afterward is worth every single moment of pain. I love my Crossfit Lumberton family and cannot say enough about the coaches especially the 5 am crew, Shelby and Devon – You have been so encouraging and have given me more confidence in myself which has always been a struggle for me. I love Crossfit Lumberton and can’t wait to see where my journey takes me!
